With a strained, emotional vocal track filled with grooving and soothing guitar solos, this first track on Jack Stauber’s 2017 album Pop Food kicks things off with an engaging combination of synths and a kicking bass. While some of it may seem to be complete nonsense, with lines such as “electrify my golden tooth,” it isn’t. When asked in a New Retro interview how he writes his lyrics, Jack Stauber replied: I get playful with the words but they’re always chosen very carefully. Read more on Last.fm.

Jack Stauber is a hypnagogic-pop musician and artist who lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a college graduate, majoring in junior marketing and minoring in studio arts. He also animates and makes surreal and comedic shorts on his YouTube channel. His YouTube channel gained popularity very fast in March 2018. His videos feature catchy and short songs with accompanying oddball animations. They also feature a VHS aesthetic as the videos are manipulated on a VCR before being uploaded. As of 2018, Jack has released 4 albums: Finite Form (2013), Viator, (2015), Pop Food (2017) and HiLo (2018). He also has a sideproject named Jack Stauber's Micropop which features a similiar style of music. Read more on Last.fm.
